Leftists need to make wargames

Recently, Kotaku took a look at Ready or Not, the Kiwi-developed SWAT-like. Luckily, they touched upon the politics angle, which I had entirely missed whilst watching Controlled Pairs play it. Maybe it’s because he didn’t zoom in on boxes of redpills – though a crack den designed by whoever dreamed up Taliban hideouts for Newsweek in 2001 did seem odd. Nevertheless. the discussion about it – and the article itself – makes one thing clear: leftists need to make wargames.

5 Worst Dice Ever Made by Games Workshop (And Some Actually Good Ones)

Any miniature gaming company that’s worth its salt will make custom dice for their games. After all, why wouldn’t your fans want to play your game with some snazzy branded cubes? Games Workshop is no different in that regard. In fact, it probably produced more custom designs than any other game company ever. Too bad they were terrible more often than not. And here are 5 worst.

Raven Guard Sneak Into Horus Heresy: Legions

The first Istvaan V event on Horus Heresy: Legion has ended, and so a new Legion is introduced. Raven Guards are now here to wreck everyone’s faces. As it was when Salamanders made their first appearance, players can pay Real Actual Money for a pre-built deck, while Raven Guard crate (3 RG cards, 2 cards you probably already have) has replaced the Sally crate. But what does this shadowy Legion do?

Chain of Command for Green-Quality Gamers

Chain of Command is a platoon+ sized WWII skirmish ruleset produced by the famous Too Fat Lardies. It’s basically the best WWII ruleset out there. So if you have some Bolt Action miniatures collecting dust, or if Flames of War 4e has got you down, you can use your toys to play a very good game. In fact, those with 15mm manz will get the best experience. However, Chain of Command has several quirks, with the activation mechanic being the biggest/best one.

Last Chance To Buy Legions: Should I Shit My Pants?

Forums poster TTeribble had a great quote about Forge World newsletters: “Th evolution of the Friday email has been pretty great. Excited to see what new stuff is coming -> bored to tears by continual custodes releases -> excited to see what core HH SKU is getting dumpstered this week.” Previously, I wrote about the implications of Elysians going on Last Chance to Buy. Now, the company that put Solar Auxilia stuff on LCtB on the same day as it announced a new Solar Auxilia transport has struck again. Legion upgrade kits are, with zero fanfare or explanations, going on Last Chance to Buy.

Five Reasons Why I’m Still Mad About The Imperial Guard Codex

Hatred is, after all, the Emperor’s greatest gift for humanity. And ya’ll kids know that unca JcDent has enough bile, vitriol and foul temper for two racist uncles. I had previously written my wishlist/hatelist for the upcoming Codex: Astra Militarum. That book has since been released, so here I am on the road again, bitching about the new Imperial Guard codex. Codex: Astra Militarum fixed a few problems from the Index, but not all. It introduced a few more. Here they are.

My Age Of Darkness Rulebook Is Here

No, no chance of that getting played any time soon.
“You think he actually intends to play with us, brothers?”

Age of Darkness is what Forge World calls their 40K spin-off set in Horus Heresy. Naturally, everyone just calls it Horus Heresy. 8th edition dropped last year and Age of Darkness found itself without a rulebook. After all, the game was using modified 7e rules. This forced Forge World to release its own standalone rulebook. However, Alan Bligh, the lead writer for the project passed away from cancer a few months before 8e, and it was a real scramble to get it published. Took them half a year, but now we have a book. And here is my copy of Age of Darkness rulebook!

If you want to know more about what I think about the Horus Heresy ruleset, I have written an article about it!
